3- Day DyeColour Technique Workshop
Workshop Description (4 students max)
3- Day DyeColour Technique Workshop
($375 for workshop $45 materials)
Watercolor artists as well as silk painters will find this workshop to be an exciting departure from tradition and an inspiration for new artistic directions. As the inspired artist develops ideas that involve multiple techniques, the potential of this creative medium expands to meet the needs of the artist allowing the artist to grow. The DyeColourâ„¢ process involves sizing the surface of the silk so that liquid dyes can be applied without the use of a resist. The transparent color enables the artist to mix and achieve luminous rich color. The silk allows the artist to apply, manipulate and pick up color without the worry of destroying the surface. The diversity of the medium gives the artist a smorgasbord of techniques. The painting techniques demonstrated include: wet-in-wet, dry-in-wet, glazing, washes, lifting and adding color and (time permitting) stenciling and wax resist. Also learn how to set up a palette, mix clean color, and create luminosity through color transitions. If you're interested in creating representational flora and fauna, or abstract and edgy art, this medium is worth exploring.
